1.       Leadership is just the responsibility of someone with an ‘official title’, or an office.

Fact: Leaders are all around us; know yourself and whether you want to be a leader or not.

2.       Inspiring leadership can only happen from those ‘charismatic leaders’;

Fact: inspiration comes from all types – however the consistent trait is believing and feeling passionate.

3. Once you’ve gotten good at ‘leadership’ it is a breeze;

Fact: it is true that once you find your rhythm it will be easier – but it takes soulful work to make it look and feel easy.

4.       What worked for you as a leader last year will work for you today;

Fact:  the ability to adjust and adapt make you relevant as a leader – this doesn’t mean throwing away your values; but rather honing your leadership skills to ensure impact.

5.       I’m a good manager, so I’ll make a good leader;

Fact: there is a huge difference between a successful manager and inspirational leader – managers manage process, leaders inspire others

6.       Leadership is always hard;

Fact: leadership becomes easier when your foundational values guide your approach

7.       Leadership is pretty vanilla; once you set the goals and expectation everything else rolls into place.

Fact: leadership is much more than goals and expectations.
