Top 10 phrases or visuals you wish your boss took time to hear/see the meaning of: 1. No words, just the lack of energy in your step 2. Are you really sure this is just a temporary job assignment? 3. Here’s the update…this remains on our list; does anyone really care or need it? 4. This wasn’t the direction I was hoping my career would go. 5. So, with the staff cutbacks, what doesn’t need to get done any longer? 6. Will work be fun again? 7. Are you sure that is the best option? 8. What has to change for this to work? 9. Are you serious? 10. Talent walking out the door, vs. in the door 11. No merit increase again?
Companies have a window of opportunity after layoffs, cutbacks, reorganization to have employees working toward a goal and reward or they’ll just end up feeling like a survivor…waiting for the next round of firings. Your best will take on added responsibility, even when they don’t like it but they also have a window for doing it. It is balancing the company needs and employee needs…when it gets one sided, the impact will be employees looking elsewhere, or staying on with resentment.
Is your company being reasonable? Honest with the direction, or do they have the mind set, if the employees don’t like it…to bad, we can find someone else to do the job. Imagine that mindset if you used it on customers….and next remember your employees are your most important asset. |
