People have started to expect to live with a lot of noise around them. Think about how the culture has changed…silent movies to big productions that try to stimulate all of your senses to the maximum. Having a clear focus seems to have gotten lost and replaced by a lot of noise.

When we work with group or teams it is easy to hear the various noises – the competing agendas, the variety of products, ideas, and discussion. What invariability gets lost is a clear and concise desired outcome – the common focus of what they are striving for. The focus is replaced by noise. That noise uses a lot of energy, and can take a team off of their A game.

5 signs your team has more noise than focus:

1. top 3 objectives aren’t clear to full team
2. team members are unclear of success or movement toward objectives
3. commitment is weak
4. getting side tracked is frequently happening to your team
5. the energy of your team is getting misplaced on areas outside your top 3 focus areas

Sorting out the noise and moving forward has big paybacks for company results and team commitment.
