Have you ever waken in the early morning hours plagued by negative/depressing thoughts – it may be feeling overwhelmed with what will face when the sun rises that morning or it may be due to feeling you’re in the valley vs. running at the peak level. I found myself in that spot one morning not too long ago. I could identify 7 areas that were bothering me…as I lay feeling awful … I rolled over and challenged myself to reframe the issues. Instead of beating myself up for not working out, and the impact on my body for not working out – I looked at it from a different point of view, I’m 50, and know how good I feel when I do work out, I have a treadmill, physically I can work out, and really the only thing that is stopping me is my attitude – taking the first step. The downside of not working out is much greater than the barriers stopping me; changing into workout gear (not a big barrier), finding 10 minutes to start, not a big barrier…as a successful businessman told me the other day…’its all between your ears’…So true. Take a look at what is plaguing you…get honest with what is stopping you, the impact, the cost – then get brave and take a step forward….warm up that treadmill, and before long you’ll be running at a faster, healthier pace. Whether what is bugging you is minor or major – reframing the issues is the beginning of dealing with the issue head on. Mike Krutza and Jodi Wiff are leadership coaches who help you get honest with what is stopping you from achieving more in your business and life. www.lighthouse-leadership.com |
