Whether male or female we’ve all walked down a street, in a room, thru a mall – and someone has caught our attention.   There is something about them – that causes you to pause.  It may be their appearance, it may be a kind action, it may be a wonderful smile….they have a certain ‘something’ and that something is striking and memorable.

I like to ask this question of clients…what do you need to get out of your work?

So think about that question.  You may not find the answer in your first response, but keep searching and look for the answer that is centered on what it takes to make you truly smile

What are your three core values that you live by.

What is the one word you would like to be described as?

What gives you joy in your work?

What are your key measurements for 2011?

What do you need help with?

The one trait that drives you nuts?

At work, I’m most proud of?

 

Check your responses against what your  friends, coworker, or team would say.  Do you really live your leadership style?   If your values are evident to others you may want to identify why and when you choose to demonstrate a different set of values.

Do you want to fit in or do you want to lead?  Leadership takes a certain amount of grit, honesty and clarity.  It takes grit to act on the hard issues; to be bold and stand strong- when it may be easier to blend in.
