The other night I was traveling back home from a client meeting, and the weather took a turn for the worst. In the horizon it was easy to see the wall cloud; the darkening skies which were illuminated by strikes of lightening…if I wouldn’t have been driving I likely would have thought how pretty it all was. The radio advisories were clear, to seek shelter, and identified the timing and location of the storm…cars pulled off the highway and I follow a few to a restaurant that look like the best place to wait the storm out. I waited it out, got some work done at the restaurant and in an hour I was back on the highway only to be driving back into another storm. This time I heard warning sirens as I drove thru another town….again the radio warning was clear, with a call to action to get off the freeway and take shelter. Once safely home – I was reassured by the warnings, and their ability to pinpoint the next wave of storms. That little radio voice in my ear, had allowed me to arrive safely, and had guided me. As leadership coaches we sometimes guide individuals during turbulent times. We help them adjust their course. I suppose at times, it may feel a bit stressful, but without the sounding board of a coach they may minimize the storms impact and timing. A coach is an outside confidential voice that helps guide you. |
