On Sunday night I watched 60 minutes with Captain C.B. Sullenberger.
I found myself intently watching his responses to the questions. His calm, confident manner when he shared the experience was remarkable. He had no need to exaggerate, but shared the experience with a solemn story and recap of what happened. He had no need for a spin doctor – to captivate us, He was believable, honest, and a stand up guy. Clearly a leader whose actions touched people in profound ways.

 

Leaders don’t need to be ‘glitzy’, smooth, or scripted. They do need to be direct, honest, confident, and sincere and believe in what they are doing. Captain Sully motives were to have a safe landing, to ensure all people survived. That’s what was personal to him. Thank you Captain Sully for demonstrating leadership in the right
