Leadership courses may not often talk about the elegant leader – and maybe that is part of the problem. We’ve all watch leaders who talk to much…thinking their way is getting into the heads of their audience; whether they are board, partners, staff, or customers. Imagine the differences when the elegant leader engages with that same group; the energy in the room changes. The key message can be the same – however it is in the delivery, the look and feel is different. An elegant leader can inspire a group and draw their audience into the discussion. It is when the heart, head and soul connect. For some reading this they may roll their eyes; I only ask them to be open and observe for day – looking for elegant leaders. Watch the impact of open discussions and dialogue – absent of arrogance and telling. Elegant leader qualities are the new ‘must haves’ in hiring, in developing staff, and in identifying future leaders and your successor. |
