The difference between a Leader and a Manager is the Manager manages process and the Leader inspires others.

I remember hearing my business partner share this message with a room full of employees about 25 years ago.    I like the definition.

Inspiration isn’t found in a well written procedure, or policy.  It isn’t cold or black and white.  It isn’t in a checklist, and can’t be faked.

Inspiration is from the gut, it is heartfelt, and it is based in foundational beliefs.  It is the art of sharing and clarifying desired end results and goals that have people really hearing but more importantly feeling the message.

It isn’t always easy to share…and maybe that is part of why it becomes inspirational.   When it’s done well….you know…but more importantly your employees or partners feel it.
