A few nights ago – my daughter, her husband and I sat and watched an old video film of her days playing volleyball. She was a 17 at the time – and loved the game. Ten years later she still loves the game, and now has a husband who enjoys it as well. We watched the old tape – her reliving those game moments, me a mom remembering the impact the sport had on her. She was fortunate to have an excellent volleyball coach – who helped guide her playing years, helped her reach new levels of play, and at times had her playing at levels above what she thought possible.
When working with individuals – coaches can make differences when the individual is open and willing to practice. As a coach you help guide, you help develop strengths and confidence. As a coach, you’re on the sideline, seeing a different perspective – sorting out the noise of the game which helps the individual play a more competitive game. Whether you’re learning a jump serve or how to create an unstoppable team that actually likes working togetherit may be about adjusting and adapting. Reach for a level you only thought you could dream about. |
