About 10 years ago I remember hearing a story about keeping a grateful log. It wasn’t so much about writing it down – but taking the mental time to be grateful, to acknowledge what/who you’re grateful for. Whether it was an act of kindness; generosity; or it may have been someone who made you laugh, to someone who took the time to really listen.

I’ve watched as strong and confident leaders express their gratefulness to their employees and the impact of that communication. Or when co-workers demonstrate acts of kindness, thoughtfulness and understanding that goes beyond work place niceties. It is when the sincerity of the moment almost stops time – those are the actions that get etched in people’s minds.

So, take time to be grateful.
Take time to listen, to make someone laugh, to help.
Make a small difference…inside and out.

Old leadership styles may be about planning, directing and controlling. Today leaders know it is much deeper and that people are key.
