The First Look -employee accountability – are employees clear on expectations – and take ownership for achieving? Start thinking of the whole picture – what is the range of employee accountability – are the ‘responsible achievers’ really carrying other employees? Having defined expectations is key; identify what is critical – do the expectations matter? Are employees driven by the accountabilities – not just the numbers but also the expectations of the core values? -clear focus on results – do you reward by performance; whether it is financial, feedback or promotions? Focusing on results is much more than checking a box on a report; it is reinforcing the behaviors you want demonstrated. It is reviewing policies and procedures to see if they support the direction. It is celebrating the movement forward. -engagement – are you talking less; and hearing more? When you reflect on meetings, exchanges, communication is it truly engaging? This isn’t an area to ‘guess’ on …instead ask your team and coworkers.
Fine tuning your leadership can begin by assessing the gaps and the strengths and clarity of your leadership. Curious how to begin - contact Mike or Jodi at Lighthouse Leadership. Leadership coaches who have practical experience on the front line and at the board room table. |
