When are making decisions hard and when is it easy? Sometimes just the ‘art’ of being decisive gets lost.

Think about a time when making a decision was easy, little hesitation, not long delays, in fact, people knew you would decide – you didn’t avoid.

Likely those times had the following characteristics:
-you knew the facts, enough to make a decision
-your gut (intuitive) was in sync with your head
-you weren’t fearful of being wrong
-your rhythm of life felt in balance
-you may have felt the ability to be flexible, the willingness to accept less than 100% perfection
-the decision was in support of your core values

If you’ve ever had a hard time making decisions, when even the easiest decision was difficult, you may have found yourself facing:
-a loss of confidence
-paralyzed in making any decision due to fear
-unable to clearly identify facts, the information felt inaccurate and insufficient
-unclear of your driving values and how they fit with the decision

The end result of indecisiveness can eat away at you, your performance, and stops you from hitting that ‘gliding feeling’. Being decisive isn’t about always saying yes, but it is about deciding and moving forward. Ask yourself today what are you avoiding and what are you fearful of?

Mike and Jodi are leadership coaches who help individuals and teams achieve a higher performance, and find that ‘gliding feeling’.
