Trying to adjust or adapt your response style isn’t as easy as it sounds. Too many times we fight the need to change. It may be that we are programmed thinking ’change is hard’. So instead, try thinking ’adjustment’ or possibly ‘dialing down’ your response.

It’s a moderate adjustment; the key is to practice the new approach so that it becomes natural in your response. Just remember practice doesn’t mean one or two times in the month. The key to practicing – is committing to it.

- Do you find people resisting your ideas? Or is it you?
- Have you received feedback – that you scare people?
- Do you physically see people shut down when you are communicating with them?
- Do you feel like you fade into the woodwork? You may need to dial it up.
