1. Be committed, take actions that have you be an ‘over achiever’. It may be very rewarding in tough economic times. 2. Think beyond your own needs – this is a time when it not just about the individual but the bigger picture. 3. Deliver with consistent results.
4. Ask what you can do ‘more of’ – ‘less of’, be proactive in your own adjustment. This makes performance reviews less surprising, and possibly more rewarding. 5. Be informed – know your department objectives, and ask where the team is at in achieving its targets. 6. Assess what is missing from your team; and stop waiting for the boss to handle all gaps. 7. Avoid the negative conversations that take place, don’t get sucked into a ‘whine party’.
